Changes to Author and Publisher Sign up |
|
|
The changes to improve the site as we have stated in the last blog have now started. Check out the author and publisher sign up pages and you will see that certain fields are now required before you can sign up. These include a photo and a small bio. Further changes we hope will be completed in a few days from now.
We invite all existing authors without a photo to submit one. You will not be able to post new articles until we have a photo.
The site is still free to join and use although we do offer services as described in your writers home page. These include proofreading, editing and help on bidding to promote your articles. These services are available for a small fee and are the lifeblood of a site like ours.
Donations and service fees allow us to upgrade the site to make it easier for you and for others to find your articles. Help us to help you promote yourself. |

Author Interface updates Improve Your Success |

Authors
We are going to change the way we accept and publish articles on the Article Publicity web pages. In order to change the appearance of the front page we have decided to only approve articles where an author has a valid photo and email address. We will require verification of your e-mail address before we will accept you as an author. We will apply this same rule to all existing authors.
We have found that many authors have not uploaded a valid photograph of themselves and the front page looks rather sparse. In order to fill all the blank spaces a photograph will be required before we will approve an article.
We have also noticed that a few authors have signed up using various email addresses instead of sticking to just one. One of the new things that will have to be done is when an author signs up and apply we send them a validation e-mail they must respond to say the e-mail account is valid. This will prevent fraudulent and spurious authors. After all most articles we have are of good quality. So we want to improve the presentation by reducing empty spaces. |

Easy Links |
|
|
We have now upgraded the links page so you can now find links by category. All of the links we have so far are now in 9 categories . The last 10 links we have got are in a list at the bottom.
Links from other websites are one of the mainstays of a webpage and they keep the articles flowing in. The more websites we link with the better the choices of articles that we can be display.
We are always interested in linking to other sites, provided of course they fit within our criteria of content. We do not subscribe to any site that has anything judged unsavory to the general population. We also do not scam or plish to obtain further links.
If you know of a website that has a page rank above 5 then please write and tell us and if they are suitable we will add them. I deally we would like the other website to put our link information on their pages and we are open to reciprocal links. Please contact us if you have a suggestion. |

Upgraded Editor |
|
|
We have made significant changes to the writer’s editor. Now you can correct and do many things with your articles you could not do before. The codes you had to add before are no longer necessary as you will see when you log in to your writer's page. Editing your articles is now easier.
You can now put in line breaks and make readable paragraphs to get your point across easily. There are facilities to make bullet points and special text.
We have also upgraded the E-zine publisher for the publishers among you. Now you have 28 colors to choose from in each of four fields so that your E-zine or newsletter is more punchy and colorful.
We will be adding a new E-zine program soon to make even that easier for you. We are trying to make writing and publishing a pleasurable experience. |

Bidding for the Top Spot |
|
|
When you write an article, I am sure that like me you want it to be read by as many people as possible. So how can you ensure more people even see it. As more and more writers submit articles, the older ones get pushed down the page so that the new one get front page priority.
All new articles automatically go to the highest spot on the front page. Well that is true, except that some writers want greater publicity and a larger number of readers, so they bid for position.
When you submit an article there is a section that allows you to place a bid so that your article appears at the top of the front page. The higher the bid, the closer to the top you are placed.
Usually when you log in you will see regular articles at the top of the front page, the writers who wrote them have placed a bid to ensure their article is the first that is read when anyone comes to the site.
You too can gain this prominence by bidding. Each bid is valid for one week from the date the bid is received. You may bid each week to ensure your article is read first or you may bid to ensure all your effort is read in the first week you submitted it.
Dont forget, all articles with a bid go on the front page. THEN all new articles without a bid go immediately below them. If their are 23 articles each with a bid in either of the two columns, then you article will be number 24 on the day you submit it, so may not be prominent on the front page. In addition, when the front page is full any other new articles go into the new articles directory where articles with a bid are in bold.
To ensure your article is prominent immediately you have submitted it you must bid to ensure it is in a high spot on the front page.
All articles are then removed from the new directory after 30 days and then are searchable by writer or category so a searcher would still find them. |
